Utility Finance Manager
Alpena Power Company, an investor-owned electric utility serving 17,000 customers in N.E. Michigan, is currently seeking a Utility Finance Manager capable of transitioning into a Chief Financial Officer within two years.
As CFO, responsibilities will include the directing of the fiscal functions of the company in accordance with GAAP, Michigan Public Service Commission regulations and the requirements of all other regulatory organizations, all in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate for a privately held electric utility.
Additional duties include overseeing all regulatory affairs with the Michigan Public Service Commission, managing the human resource function, acquisition of the company's power supply and the negotiation and administration of large customer contacts.
The Company's structure requires this position to include management and hands-on activities. The ability to perform within a team environment is critical.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business, with an MBA preferred, and a minimum of 5 years experience in utility accounting and/or finance.

Electric Utility Engineer
Alpena Power Company, an investor-owned electric utility serving 17,000 customers in N.E. Michigan, is currently seeking an Electric Utility Engineer with the skills necessary to provide technical support for all aspects of the Utility Electric System including Engineering, Construction / Maintenance and Operations.
This position will have broad responsibilities including support of a day to day operations and planning and analysis for future investments. Requires the ability to evaluate, select and design the most cost effective, safe and reliable material and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of the Company's electric system. Also requires the ability to perform the necessary studies of the electric system in order to prepare recommendations for system changes.
This position is very hands-on and responsibilities will include participating in the operation of the system as well as direction of emergency restoration work.
Position requires the ability to perform within a team environment.
Successful candidate will possess a desire to progress into an ever-increasing management role.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with no less than 5 years experience in Electric Utility Engineering and/or Operations.
