How To Read Your Meter

You can read your own meter to determine your monthly usage. Customers desiring to read their own meter or to check a bill for accuracy, should follow these simple instructions.

Please note there are two types of meters.

1. Stand directly in front of the meter with the meter at eye level.
   Mark the dials above exactly as they appear on your meter.
2. Read and record each dial carefully, starting from the right and moving to the left.
3. If the hand is between two numbers, please indicate this on the read card.

To find out how much energy you used over a given period of time, just subtract the meter reading taken at the beginning of the period from the meter reading taken at the end. The difference is the number of kilowatt hours of electricity which you have used since the last reading.
