Electrical Engineer
Alpena Power Company, an investor-owned electric utility serving 17,000 customers in N.E. Michigan, is looking for a capable, experienced Electrical Engineer.
Position Summary:
This position will provide needed expertise and support to the Operations and Engineering Departments. Areas of concentration will be; To monitor the APC electrical system, overcurrent protection, device coordination, and plan and oversee the design of needed maintenance and upgrades; to monitor the system loading and make recommendations for equipment upgrades and replacements; to develop the design, implementation, and oversight of preventive maintenance programs for the transmission and distribution systems; system modeling of the transmission and distribution systems; to provide assistance to the Vice President as requested. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
A Bachelor’s degree is required in one of the following areas: Electrical Systems, Electrical System Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering (preferred). Previous utility experience is preferred but not required.
Candidates must have a valid Driver License and favorable driving record upon hiring and the ability to maintain throughout duration of employment. You will also be required to pass a background check and drug screening.
