If you use Geothermal or Heat Pump Systems to heat or cool your home you can save additional money on your energy bell by using the system during off-peak hours, 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays, During the off-peak hours your energy prices will be discounted 17% from our standard residential per kWh rate.
Installing a separate meter to measure efficient electric heat usage.
We recommend hiring a licensed electrician to install the necessary submeter. To be eligible for the off-peak rate the energy used by the efficient electric heat system will have to be metered separately with a time of use meter. This way Alpena Power will know exactly how much energy was used by the system and when it was used.
