Contact: Ken Dragiewicz
President and COO

As of 10:30 AM on Monday all of Alpena Power Company’s (APC) customers remain without power due to the effects of the weekend ice storms. APC is expecting to have its interconnection with the regional electric transmission system restored mid-afternoon on Monday at which point we will immediately begin restoring power to essential services.

APC continues to utilize all available resources including APC personnel, mutual aid assistance, contract crews and tree clearing crews to prepare to expedite outage restoration once the regionals transmission system is back in service.

As the outage for many extends into the third day, please keep in mind that our employees and contractors want to get the power restored as quickly and safely as possible so for their safety and yours please do not approach or engage with line crews working to restore power. And keep the following safety tips in mind:

• If using a generator, ensure they are connected properly and legally with a transfer switch so they cannot back feed into the power lines and cause danger to our crews or the public.
• Always operate a generator outdoors in a well-ventilated space
• Stay at least 25 feet away from downed wires and anything they are touching, keep children or pets away, and report the issue by calling 9-1-1 and Alpena Power Company at (989) 358-4900
• Be alert to crews working along slippery and ice-covered roads. Drivers should slow down or stop and wait for oncoming traffic to clear so they safely go past workers on roadsides.
